Chapter Update for February 2010

Posted under: Most Recent Chapter Update,Presidential Highlights

Members,

It brought me great joy to see all of you in attendance at the January’s Chapter meeting. Didn’t Mr. Kokayi get down with his presentation on how to compete and win?

In CCECNFB tradition we need to give it up for our newest chapter members. A warm welcome to Mr. Lafayette Woods and Elsie Watson from Philadelphia. If you have not paid your 2010 membership dues, please submit them as soon as possible. I must say that the bank account is looking pretty good and we have started ahead of the game to have enough money for our 2010 programming. Thanks for you and your hard work.

The Mr. and Ms. NFB crowning ceremony is off to a great start and tickets are being sold nationwide; and for that alone we should be proud. We have a total of three confirmed corporate sponsors for this event and over five for the Community Impact Day in Albany. If you are reading this message and have not sold any tickets, you better get on the ball. You don’t want Ricky to yell at you do you? LOL. Give it up for his great salesmanship, but he is not in the lead – at least not yet. I had a vision of not only incorporating the sighted in our Chapter’s effort but making it worldwide. We have done just that and the results are reflective of our works. Keep up the amazing job!

We have a few events coming up that I want you to be aware of. First we have the “Georgia on my mind” Community Impact Day with the focus being blindness advocacy – past, present and future, scheduled for April 24th. The trip to Baltimore with chapters from the North Carolina affiliate will be May 14th through the 16th. Our April’s conference call will be another CCECNFB production with a Q and A session with Paul Raymond, Director of Blindness Services; so if you have questions about the VR process, then this is your time to ask. Listen out for our chapter’s first 15, 30, 9 E-Cast coming soon. Attached is a draft of the intro, tell me what you think.

I leave you with this statement and I want you to know it drives my life: “If you can believe it, you can achieve it.” I am a technologist at heart and technology changes every day; so I am not afraid of change. Believe that if you continue to do the same thing the same way, you will continue to get the same results. Let’s change Cobb County, Georgia, the nation and the world.

The next chapter meeting will be at Manuel’s Tavern at a time and date to be announced soon.

Your faithful servant,
